Thuringen Tourist Information Center

In designing Thuringen Tourist Information Center, the concept is inspired by nature and natural phenomenon of Flagging which the trees start to lose plants on one side and the branches start to disguise facing towards the direction of the prevailing wind.

Therefore, the 60-meter tower is also designed aligned with the local prevailing wind directing NE and SW. This has resulted in a twisting triangular shape which also looks like a dancer in balance.

Moreover, special topography condition has played an important role in inserting building and tower. The chosen insertion area provides a chance to have different accesses to forest, dam and parking lot, and also makes people feel this elevation differences better. This allows having direct access and view to the forest. Furthermore, existing trees on insertion area are preserved inside the building.
